the perfect lover

Have you ever been up at night wishing, hoping, waiting for that perfect man or woman to come into your life?  Just calling out for a love that is enough to make you feel wanted, needed and valued?  Have you been struggling either as a single person or as someone in a relationship that isn't quite what you though it would be?  Is the love of your life either not in your life or not exactly what you thought they would be?
This morning while at church we did a new song during the worship set.  It is a song that I am familar with, but had never looked at the lyrics.  Sure, I sang them at the gym while I ran around the track and I rocked out to it in my car driving down the highway, but seeing the lyrics hit my heart and reminded me of a great truth.
"His love is deep, His love is wide and it covers us.  His love is fierce, His love is strong, it is furious, His love is sweet, His love is wild and It's waking hearts to life."

I was blown away by the way that God reminded me of how only perfect love can come from Jesus.
So often we find ourselves crying out in lonliness because we are longing for that person who is going to love us all of the ways described above.  We want someone to loves us and cares about us deeply enough to sacrifice for us.  We want a love so wide that it covers all of our faults and forgives us even when we are not putting our best foot forward.  We ache for a love that is fierce and for someone to be strong when we are not.  Who doesn't want a love that is both sweet and gentle but wild and passionate?  Are you someone who is looking for a person with a love that has all of those qualities?  Are you currently in a relationship or a marriage and wondering why on earth your spouse doesn't portray all of those characteristics?

Only God can love us in such a way as that.  Only he can hold our hands while kicking our butts.  Only the love of Christ can be furious and sweet at the same time.  It is when we are made whole in Him that we can see that love, appreciate it and realize that we have been searching for love in all of the wrong places.

Some of you might be saying... uh, Chels?  Aren't you blissfully happy and madly in love with your husband?  Doesn't he love you in those ways?  And the answer is yes, he does.  But it was not until I accepted God's love and began to gain a better understanding of the truth that God is love and all fierce, sweet, wild, strong, deep, wide, furious love comes from Him.  Steve also has come to know that love and together, while pursuing Christ we learn more and more each day about how to love on another the way He loves us.

So for any of you out there desperately crying out for a love that is unconditional, never ending, sweet, strong, wild and a million other PERFECT things... Jesus is it.  God is the answer.  He loves YOU and me so much that He sent His son to die for YOU and me so that we may live forever and have the most amazing love relationship possible.
